Other Business
The question of allowing water ballast in the double handed divisions was raised. It was decided to recommend to the Handicap committee that a double handed subcommittee be formed to deal with all aspects of double handed racing. No moveable water ballast will be allowed this year.

At the January 2002 meeting, we resolved to change the jib breaks to 5% from 3% as of Jan 2003 and to not penalize guests from out of area that come in with 5% jibs this year (making official what our practice has been in the past). Apparently, some local sailors have purchased 155% jibs this year, and are questioning whether they should carry the penalty. Non-guest YRA PHRF Certificates with 5% jibs instead of 3% jibs will be treated as in the next higher category this year, as in the past - i.e. a 155% jib will carry a -3 penalty this year, but not next year.

Furling sails that are tacked to the deck are not eligible for the roller furling credit. Boats that have received roller furling credit, but tack the sail to the deck, should be protested. Handicappers are warned to watch out for boats that have the furlers below the deck, as these are not eligible for the roller furler credit, either. We’ll try to identify these in the base list. The C&C 110 is one.

Bob Towse prepared an analysis of boats -60 and below. It was handed out, to be discussed next month.

The next meeting will be on June 6, 2002, 8PM, at the Larchmont Yacht Club. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 PM.
