The meeting was called to order at 8:04 PM. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved as distributed.

Rich Coar presented his findings on the effects of changing to aramid rigging. In comparing Navtec rod vs PBO, for rigging sized to provide 8,000# working strength, PBO weighed 3.7#/100', -8 rod weighe 13.6#/100' and 1/19 9/32" weighted 16.1#/100'. On a 40' boat, PBO saves about 40#. The manufacturers claim a life span of 3-5 years, but practically it is 2-3 years. Motioned, seconded and carried that it shall be Committee policy to penalize boats converting to all aramid rigging -6 seconds/mile. Boats solely converting a backstay shall not be penalized. All other cases will be subject to committee review.
